Part Two: Why You Need to Check Your State and Federal Exclusion Lists

March 02, 2023

As mentioned in a previous article, an individual or entity can be excluded from participating in Federal health care programs for a variety of reasons.  The individual/entity will receive notification from the OIG indicating the period of time for which they are going to be excluded.  Once the exclusion period ends, the individual/entity cannot automatically resume providing services.  They are required to apply for reinstatement in order to participate in a Federal health care program.  A reinstatement application can be submitted no sooner than 90-days before the end of the exclusion period.

There are other ways that an individual/entity can regain access to participation in the Federal health care program.  Stay tuned for our next article.
