Q&A
Get to Know Sheryn!
Your passion for process and adding value to healthcare organizations obviously runs deep. How did that first develop for you?
My passion for developing processes started with my father who was a mathematician and computer programmer with Lockheed Martin. I would see how he tackled even the most complex problem in a structured, analytical, yet creative way and build a solution from the information he had. Seeing these skills in action, created a drive to approach problem solving in a similar fashion.
My passion for healthcare started with a volunteer opportunity in high school. I was a candy striper at a local hospital and was able to volunteer in multiple departments (from Registration to the ER) and at an early stage realized how the quality of healthcare (both administrative and clinical) could impact patients.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to bring these two passions together, throughout my career, to create efficiencies and value to the organizations I’ve worked with.
Can you share one of your most meaningful accomplishments in your professional career?
I joined a large, national healthcare organization that had gone through several acquisitions of medical group practices (PCP & Specialists). My area of responsibility had multiple factions and processes that the acquired staff brought to this large entity. Within 12 months, the multiple groups were working together towards common goals and within 24 months, we were nationally recognized for the work we did, including automating clinic workflows and standardizing data/reporting from multiple systems.
What is one thing most people would be surprised to know about you?
I sing with the Las Vegas Master Singers, the choir in residence for the Las Vegas Philharmonic.
What are some of your favorite things to do when you're not developing operational processes and creating action plans for your clients?
I love spending time with my grandkids, sharing an exceptional meal with people I care for, and traveling.
